You might be wondering “Oh common, I know what is Salesforce and why it is used. What’s new in here?”. Well, I’ve shared my sweet accident with Salesforce and Tableau CRM in my earlier blog. And, I believe we learn new things every day even if it's a familiar topic. So, today we are going to talk about what is Salesforce and why we need it.

What is Salesforce?

Salesforce is the leading CRM (Customer Relationship Management) software in the world. It is available on-premise and over the cloud or as a SaaS (Software-as-a-Service) product. Salesforce focuses on simplifying customer experiences and keep them happy. Your sales, marketing, IT, and service team — Salesforce helps them work collaboratively from across the globe.

Salesforce is based out of San Francisco, California, US and is founded by Marc Benioff and Parker Harris, in February 1999. Salesforce offers customer relationship management service to organizations across the globe in every industry vertical. It also comes with a complementary suite of enterprise applications aimed at marketing automation, customer service, application development, and analytics.

What is a CRM?

CRM stands for Customer Relationship Management. Using this technology, you can manage relationships with your customers and prospects. You can also track all your interactions easily. The CRM enables teams to internally and externally collaborate, communicate by emails/phones/social media, gather social media insights, and track important metrics.

Why Salesforce?

Salesforce gathers your important data and organizes it into a simple user interface.

With Salesforce, you can:

❤ Manage all your contacts

❤ Organize tasks and to-do items

❤ Work with your perspective customers

❤ Collaborate with your team

❤ Focus on the right deals

❤ Close more businesses

❤ Showcase your big wins

Salesforce stores your data on the cloud which is accessible at any time and anywhere. It improves data visibility, security, and sharing features for protecting vulnerable that meant to be seen by only designated people.

Data Visibility in Salesforce — Who sees what?

Access determines data access in Salesforce and the way you can do it. Means, how you can view, create, edit, and delete the data — which an admin sets up and maintains through the Salesforce settings.

Let’s Collaborate with Salesforce:

Salesforce offers features beyond sales process management. It gives you a platform to collaborate. Salesforce enables you to create groups, posting informal polls, following topics and people, sharing links and files, asking questions, and mentioning colleagues you want to connect.

Salesforce platform helps you get your questions answered, crowdsource expertise within the organization, search competitive information beneficial for the negotiation stage, and receive help from leaders, experts, and team members.

Just like your corporate memory, Salesforce stores these collaborations so that you can search or access them in future. Salesforce also enables you to capture and share relevant content that becomes more valuable when the entire company is engaged. This collaboration is impactful for individual deals, support issues, tasks, etc.

Well, I guess this is enough for today. I will share more in the upcoming post. Till then keep exploring the awesome world of Salesforce whenever and wherever you can. Take care and stay healthy! Stay tuned!
